Kitchen Therapy

Fun Cooking Classes Spur Social Connections
We encourage resident participation in a fun-spirited cooking class to support social connections and cultural ties in the kitchen, and promote a sense of community.
Kitchen Therapy, Willowbend’s newest signature program, is an insightful and fun-filled monthly cooking class that teaches residents how to make a variety of affordable meals that taste delicious. Sometimes residents will whip up fun comfort food, like pizza and pancakes, and other times they’ll focus on more health-conscious dishes.

Kitchen Therapy is led by staff members who know their way around a kitchen and are knowledgeable about nutrition. Residents thoroughly enjoy testing their cooking skills and learning new tips and tricks in the kitchen. But what they love even more is when it’s time to dive in and enjoy the completed dishes.

Whether you’re a beginner chef or an expert in the kitchen, Kitchen Therapy is fun, interactive, and self-paced, so you can cook at a speed you’re comfortable with. From gourmet grilled cheese, to lemon icebox pie, and even top-secret family recipes, anything is fair game, and thoroughly enjoyed by everyone at the end of the cooking session.

Any residents with special dietary needs can still participate in classes and enjoy dishes altered to their needs. Our Resident Dietician is here to help make variations of the dishes to meet a variety of dietary needs, so you don’t have to worry about missing out on all the fun.

Kitchen Therapy spurs laughter, social connections, and joyous memories among residents over delicious food. What more could you ask for?
